JOTI - Jamboree On The Internet.
As you probably already know, we are
celebrating JOTI and JOTA together this year and we are intending to be 'on' the
Internet Scout Chat Channels just as we were last year.
This year, we
will be running a simultaneous Amateur Radio Station (GBØBWS - GB zero
Bishop's Waltham
Scouts) which is a special events station put together to celebrate the
Jamboree On The Air (JOTA)
Click
here to visit our JOTA pages.
You
can always EMAIL us at:
gb0bws@yyyy.jotajoti.org
where yyyy is the current year of operation and this will be forwarded to us.
Alternatively, you can look us up in the JOTI
database pages (you'll find us listed under GB0BWS).
Who + Where We Are:
We are:
1st Bishop's Waltham Scout Troop (The Gunners)
We meet:
8pm on Friday nights during term time at the
The Scout Hut, Bishop's
Waltham, Hampshire (click there for a map of roughly where we are).
You
can also look us up on Google Earth ! Our co-ordinates are 50° 57' 6"
N, 1° 12' 7" W.
Our JOTI Equipment:
We operate a suite of networked computers (assorted
and various, ranging from towers to desktops to laptops) which are all connected
to a local broadband node via a 2.4 GHz wireless link thanks to local Amateur
Radio Operator Alan, G7IWA.
The network is a standard 100 Mbps off a
wireless router and hub, and can happily support all our computers, allowing
everybody who visits us to get onto a node.
If we're lucky, there will
be a video stream from a webcam too !
Our Modes of Operation:
As we're Scouts, we intend to pass Greeting Messages
to other Scouts world wide, so we will be using mIRC (nickname bwgunners +
number to show the node) and we will be running the Amateur Radio "Echolink"
too so we can talk to other Scouts in far away places either direct, or via
their local Amateur Radio Relays.
These two modes will be our
mainstay of operation.
